Today I’m going to talk about the 3rd VR game I bought – Beat Saber. Now I hesitated from buying it for a bit because of how mainstream it was, but eventually I did. And well, I must say I generally am satisfied with it. And now, to offer my perspective.
I suppose many people would have heard about Beat Saber. And otherwise, it’s pretty easy to explain. Basically, you hold a saber in each hand. Then, you slash the blocks in accordance to the arrows that are on the blocks, so up, down, left or write. Along the way, there are obstacles that may hinder you – you have to crouch beneath some blocks, sidestep others and avoid slashing the explosive bombs that come your way. Simple enough, I think.
Now, there are 5 difficulty levels – easy, normal, hard, Expert as well as Expert+. From my impressions, easy is child’s play. Most people will probably start off with normal. At first, it may feel like a visual bombardment and your body won’t even be able to react at all. That’s perfectly normal. However, the more you play, the more your body will get used to it and you will gradually be able to challenge the upper levels. Right now, I can handle over 80% of the Expert+ songs, maybe. Meanwhile, my mother can basically handle Expert. I think that’s a sign that just completion alone is not that hard after all, with practice. But high scores? Umm, just playing it casually yo…
To tell you the truth, I play Beat Saber generally as a quick and easy way to get some exercise. A Google search reveals that Beat Saber burns the same amount of calories as tennis or something. Hand flailing and all that, probably. Therefore, when I want to go for a quick burning session that is just mindless and without so much exertion, I just go for a couple of normal Expert+ rounds. That’s definitely not to say, though, that Beat Saber has little exertion! Specifically, Fit Beat Expert+ is a really intense workout which is physically demanding to keep up with. Also, the latest OST 4 has some cool stuff too. Ok, I probably meant more of mindless. Say I want to go for something more stimulating and intensive. Then, oke! There’s the fast song option and the super fast song option which will accelerate things up nicely for you, pushing you to the max!
Well, there’s also stuff that I’ve pretty much ignored but may well be of interest to people. For example, there’s a multiplayer mode. So if you have friends with the game, or just want to play in conjunction with others, there’s that too. Additionally, there are many DLC packs that you can purchase. Some of these are big names like BTS which I believe is pretty popular. Personally, I admit that I do not really play this game for the music… I play it more for physical activity… shock.
For people who are super into music and for people who are good at technology, there is the option of creating custom songs. Hell, you’ll probably find someplace to download the custom songs – no need really to go to the trouble of creating it yourself. I mean, you are supposed to know yourself best! So if you feel that hey this is definitely what I want to do! do so. You’ll probably enjoy it.
And that’s all for this post! Basically, this game is pretty much mainstream and straightforward so there’s not much to write.
