I bought Audio Trip in August last year and it has faithfully served as a staple VR game for me since. The game should be categorised as a rhythm game like Beat Saber as the song plays and you thereafter go reacting to the beats that are thrown in your path. As opposed to the block-slashing that is characteristic of Beat Saber, Audio Trip usually has the player moving their hands into the path of the beats. One must also duck left, right and under in addition to holding your hands alongside the trajectory of the long notes. In short, it is a run-of-the-mill rhythm game except in VR.
As compared to Beat Saber, I actually find Audio Trip much more physically intensive. Some people might even play it as a dancing game, really. In Beat Saber, most of the movement belongs to the arms/wrists. In Audio Trip, you’ve got to physically move your body fast left, then fast right and then fast left again, for example. This is a game that really tests your body’s reaction speed and what’s that called, flexibility?… You might call it turning speed or whatever. Ultimately, you need to move your body to navigate obstacles fast.
Audio Trip used to have three difficulty levels: beginner, normal and expert. I never played beginner, I think. I started up with normal and couldn’t keep up with expert. Eventually, though, my ‘staple’ became expert. Even my mother can complete some expert levels now, if I am not wrong. I was able to get into the top 100s or 200s or something for all the songs, if I do not remember wrongly. Haha, there was a time when three new songs came out in an update and I was even in the top 10 for them because no one had played them yet. I’m not so hardcore! that I seek perfection, but it really is quite fun to complete those levels! Additionally, there is now a difficulty level called cardio. The meaning is self-evident, really… I guess it should be in between normal and expert in terms of difficulty? Probably.
As for the number of songs in the game, it was around twenty the last time I checked. I play it more for the physicality than the music tbh, soo… But honestly speaking, all such games will naturally come with custom songs! If you’re really into music, by all means go in for the music and the dance! Make this game even more enjoyable for yourself! For me, I think of Audio Trip as my sweat/challenge game. Seriously, it’s cool and really fulfilling once you’re able to do it!!! In conclusion, don’t balk at it!! This can make exercise fun, make you wanna go for ‘just one more round’! Booyeah!
That’s all for this post!
