In my life there’s a rule
Always abiding
No honour in power
But in me staying true
Glancing left and right
People all around me
In line with the mainstream
Lives pledged away
But I know
My faith my allegiance
Is true and upright
My spark my passion
All ready to fight
From the heart a calling must come
And then you heed the summons
Stride forward, don’t look back
Never betray yourself!
Surrender they say
Choose the common path
Like that’s what everybody does
But how does that even work?
How does one fake interest?
Emit the sparks of play?
See when you’re not really living
Surely it’s too hard to fake!
Cease, desist, onward!
