I had a strong epiphany of sorts yesterday. I’ll break it down a little.
So two days ago I had something like an interview for a role. A number of hours a week and presto! Added income! But unfortunately… the person and I were not aligned. See, she was like how much money do you want to earn? And I was like huh? But I’m not that ambitious about money though? And she was like oh you’re not at that point in that journey yet.
So basically I am not that into materialism though I wouldn’t exactly call myself a minimalist! And anyway, moving on to yesterday. Yesterday evening, I had this thought – hey, I’m a Taurus rising, and aren’t Taurus risings supposed to enjoy the finer things in life? And so I googled… finer things in life.
And yeah, it was a rather transformative experience for me.
See apparently, I had previously misunderstood finer things in life to only consist of material things like high-end resorts, yachts, fine wine and such. However, I learnt yesterday that that couldn’t be further from the truth! Because it’s all subjective. So while indeed, a portion of people feel that those material things are the finer things in life, some don’t. Instead…
Some finer things in life the quick Google search revealed: good relationships with others that are loving. Having enough time to yourself to pursue your own hobbies and such. Owning a home. Eating nice outside food. Having stuff like Netflix and Spotify to entertain yourself with…
I realised… I kinda already had those.
So if you equate enjoying the finer things in life to the good life and even living to the fullest, hey!!! Aren’t I doing it already?!!
Now, what I thought previously. I previously kind of equated the good life to a destination. For instance, once I had found that dream lifelong partner or once I had attained that amazing job I was passionate about and loved…
But now, my perspective is different. Because see, hey!!! Haven’t I already fulfilled all those criteria?!! So well in that case, I’m already there! I was there all along and I just didn’t know, realise it! Sure, maybe further abundance is to bless me in the future! But even now, when it still isn’t here yet. I’m enjoying all those finer things in life, right now, already! Blessed! And at the epitome in living to the fullest!
So by extension, if life is a journey, every step of the way is a piece of art. Once this season in my life passes, some puzzle pieces in this jigsaw shall be removed to make way for the new pieces entering my life. And life will never!!! be the same again!!!
Therefore, tsumari, live to the fullest! Right now! Every single moment is… irreplaceable!!!
Because, as I’ll emphasise once more, hey!!! Aren’t I already enjoying the finer things in life, that are representative of the best, ideal, fullest life?
Hehe.
Oh yeah, but alongside that some more serious insights were gleaned by me yo. Here I go.
So I gleaned how some higher beings describe the 9-5 job as essentially… slavery. Because hear me out, see. Let’s put it this way. The goal of life is happiness and enjoying the finer things in life yeah. But even so! If you think about it, right now so very often for so many people the finer things in life exist… only outside of work.
Why do they work? They work for survival. They work in order to be able to live. Aka enjoy the finer things in life. So in that sense these people are, in working, selling themselves for the right to truly enjoy their lives outside of said slavery time!!! As such, to iu koto de the system is flawed. Mehhhh.
What of the ideal system? Well, I won’t go too much into it because I’m too lazy for controversy because I don’t like drama and conflict much. However, anyways, basically, that’s the system where survival itself’s assured. Everyone only works in order to live, aka they pursue their passions. See how some people have jobs they love even now? Yep!
For now, with the current system before society updates to a higher level…… well we just gotta make do. Sometimes, unfortunately, we just gotta settle and strive for survival because it plain ain’t assured. Sad. The shouganai no choice thing. But ideally yeah!
Outside of work (assuming we don’t like it), we truly live. Why do we work yeah? Some people may say that it’s to survive. But isn’t it the case that outside of survival itself, we work to enjoy the finer things in life?
So please, outside of the work for the sake of survival in and of itself and not because you actually like the work… please, do!!! enjoy the finer things in life. Find a hobby. Cultivate your relationships and truly vibe with loved ones.
Well of course though!!! The ideal is that you find work that really aligns with you, that you are passionate about, that gives back to you. Maybe ultimately, that is the hallmark of a civilisation once it’s developed past a certain point. Survival is assured for everyone, and then we’re simply!! pursuing what we were made for by the universe. We’ve all got ’em!
Oh and by the way, the indicator is the excitement when our hearts blaze. Kokoro o moyase!
Additionally, think about it this way yeah.
What exactly is it that you are working towards in life?
I mean, the traditional item is money yeah. But past a certain point, and especially so for people who just naturally don’t have such a great need for material things, you just hit a surplus for money after a certain point! Then even some rich people say that they hit their financial goals, but alas! So they still aren’t happy! It didn’t fill the freaking holes in their hearts!
The lesson? This:
Question. What do we live for.
Answer. The finer things in life.
Perhaps sometimes we are limited in achieving said finer things (for ourselves, subjective!!) right now because of monetary concerns. Alright! Shouganai. However… For so many other finer things in life, hey!!! Seriously! Can’t we integrate them into our lives right now?
Remember, the preconceived formula is wrong.
Said formula is:
Work. Accumulate money. Retire. Win!
Because you see, what you even do with said money is in question. Can you even enjoy it then? I mean, health aside, do you know how you will enjoy it?
As I see it, the more correct formula:
Work. Yet at the same time, enjoy the finer things in life and live to the fullest! Ensure survival first (no choice with our system rn). But atop having secured that… it’s seriously YOLO yo.
Seriously, don’t wait for after retiring to truly start living (Though maybe that works for some, I don’t know, maybe it does). Idk, maybe you’ve got no choice and are in bondage, slavery atm, whatever… However!! Ideally, I think that once you’ve secured, ensured your survival, that is when you should seriously go look for the work that truly fills you! Your ‘life purpose’ so to speak. Now that is living a best life truly woah.
And that’s what you can enjoy doing for the remainder of your incarnation. 🙂
And oh, I also want to do a quick shoutout to micro retirement.
Some people don’t bother waiting till they truly grow old before retiring and enjoying life. Maybe they think they’ll be too old to truly enjoy it then, and youth is one of the best times to enjoy innit! So, they take a year or two off from work and they live to the fullest uh… ahem. Outside of ‘slavery’.
Of course, I’m not hating on work altogether! I’m a believer in passion yeah! I’m just saying that right now, we’ve been limited and forced into some category and sometimes don’t get to truly live yeah! Which is the entire purpose of existence yeah! And so these people are totally doing THE right thing in my opinion yeah! Because of how incredible their lives are rn yeah! And they TOTALLY are enjoying the finer things in life yeah!
Hey just think about it. Traditional paradigm: accumulate money equals ideal. Yet if we distil it, money doesn’t actually equate to a good life! Instead, it’s what we obtain and enjoy with this money that equates! Isn’t that precisely what those micro retirees are already doing right now!!!
As for those people who are gonna do traditional retirement soon, I’m really hoping you guys know how you’re gonna enjoy and live the good life! with that money. You know how some people don’t wanna retire and just wanna keep working because they feel empty without anything to do? Yeah there’s totally that too you know!
The most important lesson in my view: Enhance your daily to the max within healthy, sustainable confines. Don’t limit yourself. Remember to properly enjoy your life and the fruits of your hard earned labour yeah!
🙂 Don’t leave it all just as inheritance lol. Sure since everyone is different perhaps some won’t really be able to get and resonate with your way of living to the fullest. But still that works for you and so that’s enough! Really, the universe has a multitude of ways of expressing and desiring!
And with that I’ve come to the end of my article. I had a good time writing it because this kinda fills me up and therefore is like one of the finer things in life for me hah. You know, it’s like difficulty non-existent, but fulfilment high? Yep anyway that’s it! Have a good life peeps! Remember to do enjoy those finer things in life and don’t thoroughly overlook and squander ’em yeah!!!
