Before I start the article, I just want to briefly mention something. So in between two semesters of a certain something back in June, I did a side project of 3 Chinese songs due to certain reasons. Now I’ve released them and even uploaded the lyrics. I have yet to challenge myself with regard to being better at composing, but that’s something I can see myself working on here on out! Note: Lyrics in about/portfolio.
Yes, I am very sure there will be remastered versions of everything in the future.
And with that, let’s begin. So today I want to talk about how it is not only self-mastery over your state of being at any given moment that truly empowers you to be fully yourself. For truly you must be in a conducive environment that empowers that as well.
Now, a common misunderstanding might be that it’s alright so long as it is a positive environment as opposed to a toxic one. Now, it’s truly good if you’re in a positive environment in the sense that you avoid that nasty negativity, but to be honest, that’s actually sorely insufficient. More of a premise even.
Instead, I would like to introduce the factor of truly being in a space that draws out the previously inhibited, repressed, unseen aspects of you. As well as offer the perspective that even positive environments alone may still leave much to be desired. Of course, no offence to them, and much credit to them for their awesomeness!
So let me begin.
Let me just give two examples from my own past.
One, my unit in re-service for National Service, basically serving the army. Now, it was an extremely! positive and pleasant environment. However… well, it just didn’t really draw anything out of me so to speak. In the sense that while I was there, I was just quiet and didn’t really have the ability to make real conversation with anyone at all. So really, it was just limited to things like let’s go there or what time is it?
Nothing beyond that.
Now, obviously, this is no fault of the place! However, I would contend that it really falls on the ability of the environment, and of course of the people there, to really go and draw!!! your full, luminous self out of the hidden shadows of your consciousness.
Now, the goal is none other than this: to make yourself fully you, bright and resplendent in all your expression of your inherent qualities. This is of course, easier for some people than it is for others!
But anyway, let me point to a different example, my last session from theatre class. Now, so we were given prompts to make quick acts out of, basically. And wow, it was really incredible what was produced as a result.
I’ll give just three examples. One, there was this girl who really! transformed like crazy and went on and on about being gnarly, some trend I think. Another example is a girl who’s usually more reserved and quiet and nondescript playing with languages and being so entertaining just fun playing at it! Or this guy who worked with me – we totally deviated and I had to totally improvise, but he went along with the ad lib and it turned out so well.

So am I trying to point at here? Well, basically, this theatre class managed to so perfectly draw out these underlying sides of us that normally just reside in the hidden recesses of our minds. It’s utterly! amazing in that sense. And the main thing really – we all dazzled like gems!
So back to the topic at hand. What I am trying to say is this. Now technically, some environments are positive ones. Maybe I can quickly point to two things they might do for you. One, they might put you with people who share a certain similarity with you and you find resonance, a sense of shared being with them. Two, they are simply patient, inclusive and the opposite of overbearing, and simply let you be so comfortably!
Sometimes, these are precisely what some people need, and so they truthfully are perfect!!! for some people, empowering them so to speak in their coziness! Hooray for them! However, sometimes, they just are not the most conducive for other people.
Ultimately, after thinking about this for a bit, the answer that seemed most holistic to me is this question – does it let you be more of you?
So let me expand on this by giving you some ways in which it might play out.
In one instance, you truly just get people who fall under the same category as you in a certain aspect, and you get to bond with them over shared experiences and such. In a sense, you could call this something like a support group kind of thing. Though of course the truth is that some people need it more than others. For real.
In another instance, you get people who share a similar passion to yourself! Now you can engage in this passion together with them, totally bringing out a side of yourself that would otherwise stay… buried. Now you can totally ikasu and live out this passion of yours, flexing it in that sense! All of you enjoy it and have fun together! In that regard, I would say some people are more suited for this, because they just aren’t born as the kind to like to loaf around…
No offence, but at least from what I’ve gathered so far, the category mentioned earlier has a certain propensity to gather people who are comfortable enough and perfectly thriving in such settings! Which! Certainly, is totally correct for them, and good for them! if they can successfully find these groups that meet their needs.
At least, these two categories are all I can think of for now. Anyway.
Now let’s go away from communities and groups and environments, gravitating back to the individual. Now, this certainly also applies to what we as human beings do with our free time!
For instance, this blog. And I suppose also the posts I do on Facebook very regularly nowadays as Daimon, Eudaimonia Practitioner.

Now, there’s one thing I’ll say – they are so liberating in the sense that they let me fully be this side of myself that would otherwise remain wholly unexpressed!! And I feel that this side of myself is such a quintessential, representative part of me! And obviously, I’m so glad to have found, well, honestly kind of co-created with the universe, these!!
And of course, I have no plans to stop doing any of this anytime soon!!
Well basically, that’s what I’m talking about. Back to the leading question. Does it let me be more of me?? Why!! A most resoundinggggg yes! Heh.
Let’s quickly give Japanese a shoutout for myself.
For instance, you may have noticed that I used the word ikasu earlier. I’m sure I also used another Japanese word in a rather recent article. Basically, even in the notes I write on my notes app, it is a very! common occurrence for me to substitute actual English words with Japanese!
What I am trying to point at here? Well, basically, how the language is just so fundamentally essential to my being in a sense! And of course, here, I would most certainly like to thank! myself again, for having committed my time and effort to acquiring this skill in the first place! For you see, I would say that in a sense, it is very well who I am too, representative of me in my state of highest expression!
Yep, basically, I suppose it’s coming down to this – it seems that that’s really what I am wanting to point at today in this article. Be!!! your highest expression. Plant the seeds. Nurture them. Grow into it!
Of course, I agree that I may appear to be an inexorably 100% idealist in my words. Yes, I concede that. I may even nerd out instead and point at how in Gene Keys, my life’s work was pointed out to be number 11, the idealist! Well, even divined in a sense, but let’s not talk about that here.
I suppose this is as good a point at any to start wrapping up the article.
Basically, if there’s anything you might take away from the read, please, let it kindly be this. When considering whether something is right for you, please factor in this – does it let you be more of yourself? Does it, say, draw something out of you and nurture it? Or, simply let a part that was previously thoroughly suppressed out into the world?! To be free and accepted and belong? Or relish in the joy of being harnessed? Dancing in freedom, so to speak?
Please, consider that for real.
And one final thing before I end. Basically, it’s about the validity of yourself. Now, I say that authenticity is the highest truth and that unleashing of your true Self is the highest meaning of life. In conclusion… let’s say that some parts of you are rejected.
Still! Know that they are the truest version of you! The limited perspectives of others should not cause you to deny who you truly are! The ultimate goal is to fully! be yourself! And the ideal state of the world is one where that is all-encompassing, for truly, the embodiment of one’s truest self cannot harm others, can only ruffle the feathers! offending the narrowness of people with limited perspectives.
And in the meantime, of course, everyone should fully
Love and Accept who they are, cannot but Be.
And yes, this is me kinda advocating for inclusivity here. Hope I kinda got a point across. Okay bye! 🙂
