A wasted resource of plentiful untapped potential :(

Today’s article will be a quick regular one about how to make time your ally.

So let’s think about time for a moment. Contemplate. What is time like?

Basically, the nature of time is this. It always passes, no matter what. And you only ever get to live in the present moment, no matter what. Time passes, and you look back, and go ‘oh man, it’s been so long already?”

And so, one major statement about time we can make is this – it always passes. We can never stem its tide.

And then one thing those super high achievers might talk about is this: how can we make the most use out of our time?

Simple. You commit it.

That was what you did at school, right? You committed a certain amount of time each day to studying!

But then enter our ordinary, daily life and we, normal people, usually just do whatever we like and don’t really plan it out too much.

So let’s form a quick equation here.

Nothing x always = nothing.

It’s not really a nice thing to think about, but this holds valid for most of us.

Now we really don’t have to be lifelong learners and all that, but hey! Time actually possesses a lot of untapped potential that you can capitalise on!

Let’s just take a look at an alternate equation.

10 min x 1 year = 60 hours

Doesn’t look any impressive at all on the small scale, but on a large scale – zoom out and it’s a massive thing already!

So let’s say, for example, that you wanna learn a language.

Every day, you devote 10 min of your time to it.

Within a year, you’d have banged 60 hours on it!

On a small scale, that 10 min doesn’t take that much out of you. It’s just a little, minor, inconsequential passing thing that you do in your day.

But what if that same inconsequential thing translates to you having gained a basic mastery and novice fluency in the language after 1 year?

Let’s say you wanna learn the guitar. You think that seriously, you have zero talent in it. But hey, you spend the 10 min.

By the end of the year, you’d be able to strum something a little decent for show!!!

Let’s compare that to wasting our free time away and not doing anything aside from our job or school or the like whatsoever.

Time committed zero. Accomplishment attained zero.

Hey, the time passes anyway. No matter what you’re surely gonna wake someday and arrive at that same period, right.

But just a nigh miniscule effort on your part on a daily basis can net you so much!!!

Well for me personally at least, once I realised this principle, the idea of just doing nothing at all to stack and accumulate with the power of time disappeared.

0 x 0 = 0

Meanwhile, most of our free time daily we just while around doing nothing of any real import.

Think of all the crazy things we can achieve if we were only to put the time to them!

Just a few minutes per day, and it turns into hours over time…

Well of course, the most important thing is deciding on what to commit to in the first place!

Desire is key here, because if you have zero interest in it, it’s like impossible for you to do it in the first place!

But anyway.

Why not just set one or two projects in place in your life!

For example, take this blog. I decided that I would just do 2 chapters per week for now, then maybe 3 chapters when I feel like it. Well obviously writing an article takes more than 10 min, but still! It is the power of accumulation over time that stacks up the effort and turns it into results!

And hey! For me this is one of these very same things actually!

  1. Doesn’t take me a lot of effort, just requires a bit of exertion and is troublesome at most. Therefore can be performed over time
  2. Can foresee potentially reaping some results from it

Well therefore, why not!

Another way to think of it is just to view it as an investment.

For x min everyday, I’ll invest y amount of time, that is technically more valuable than money, into it.

Hopefully you can sort of enjoy the process, at least relatively so!

And hopefully you believe the project is indeed worth it!

Hey, time just flows on like a subtle, carefree stream.

You can ride on its current that compounds, grows.

Or you can just remain the same as you always are.

Stagnant, comfort zone, no real difference.

Active, breakthrough, new horizons.

Come. Which will you choose?

Huh.

People always talk about investing money to make their money grow.

Here’s one stackable resource which you’re plain letting flow to waste.

So why not make time your ally and invest in your very own self today?

End.
